Show me, tell me (vehicle safety questions)
At the start of your practical test you’ll get one “tell me” question (explain a safety check before you drive). While you’re driving, the examiner will ask one “show me” question (demonstrate a control). You can get a driving fault for each if you’re wrong; during a “show me” task, unsafe driving can mean a fail — so we build these into lessons calmly and safely.
Every car is slightly different. In lessons we use our automatic tuition vehicle so you know exactly where the wipers, lights, demister, horn, and windows are before test day — that’s the bit gov.uk can’t teach you.
